Network Infrastructure
The National Science and Technology R&D Network (KREONET) backbone is a national R&D network infrastructure that is comprised of a domestic backbone, including 16 areas and 16 regional network centers (Giga PoP), with Seoul & Daejeon as the main sites, and an independent international backbone (GLORIAD, International Internet). The KREONET domestic backbone is based on optical lambda equipment, specifically, an MSPP-based state-of-the-art optical transmission system, and provides a maximum 100Gbps (Seoul-Daejeon), minimum 2.5Gbps network infrastructure. This is a world-class, high performance hybrid network infrastructure, comparable to the best networks found in the most advanced countries.
