VPN Service
KREONET provides VPN services designed to deliver guaranteed performance and enhanced security for science and technology research institutions. Available service options include Lightpath (Layer 1), MPLS-TP (Layer 2), and Segment Routing and VPN (Layer 3), supporting a range of connectivity needs across different network layers.
- (L1) Lightpath Service: The Lightpath service provides dedicated Layer 1 connectivity using the optical transmission infrastructure of the KREONET. It offers fully guaranteed bandwidth at all times, delivering performance equivalent to that of commercial leased lines.
- (L2) MPLS-TP Service: MPLS-TP is a Layer 2.5 technology designed to overcome the limitations of traditional IP packet switching over optical transport networks. It enables connection-oriented packet delivery by using label-based encapsulation for a variety of services. Leveraging this approach, KREONET provides Layer 2 VPN (L2VPN) services through the establishment of virtual tunnels between subscriber sites.
- (L3) Segment Routing and VPN Light Service: This service provides Layer 3 VPN (L3VPN) connectivity by establishing Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) instances. Communication is confined to participants within each VRF, ensuring isolated and secure routing among designated subscribers.
