Video Conferencing Services

As part of its public mission, the KREONET provides two types of video conferencing services free of charge to support remote collaboration during the COVID-19 response. These services are accessible directly through web browsers without requiring any additional software installation, ensuring broad and immediate availability for public institutions and research communities.

  • Webinar – A conferencing platform optimized for remote instruction, virtual lectures, and online seminars.
  • WebMeet – A lightweight solution tailored for virtual meetings and collaborative discussions.

    * Comprehensive user documentation is available for each platform to ensure effective and secure use.

  • Offers an all-in-one platform optimized for virtual seminars and collaborative meetings, including presentation sharing, screen sharing, session recording, and real-time chat.
  • Features an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, accessible even for first-time users.

Access and Authorization

  • Users may join a meeting without logging in; however, authentication is required to create or host a meeting room.
  • For Webinar, login is available not only to members of KAFE-affiliated institutions, but also to individual users with Google or Naver accounts. WebMeet, on the other hand, is restricted to authenticated users from KAFE member institutions.
  • KAFE full member institutions receive the following enhanced Webinar services:

    - Exclusive access to system resources for up to 3 conseive days per session, ensuring high-quality video conferencing via dedicated infrastructure.

    - Advanced meeting scheduling capabilities, including the ability to pre-distribute meeting links and receive automatic reminder emails on the scheduled meeting date.

Usage Overview

  • Over 18,000 virtual meeting rooms have been created, with more than 210,000 users having participated in video conferencing sessions.
  • The service is widely adopted by domestic academic, research, and industry institutions for virtual meetings, online seminars, and live broadcasting of academic conferences.
